After months of hiding in the sand, natterjack toads emerge during the first mild spring nights. Slowly they move towards their breeding water. Because the temperature is still low, they move slowly. This makes it possible to photograph them up close.

I planned this series around the decay of ink mushrooms. Along a cycle path I found two specimens. Over three days, I photographed them against a white background. By using focus stacking, I created images with full sharpness.
