About the film

The giant screen film Cities of the Future invites you to step into the future and discover the exciting innovations engineers are working on today.

The world is changing, and with it come new challenges. Where will our energy come from? How will we keep cities cool, and how will we travel in the future? What you’ll see is not science fiction. It is the world engineers are designing right now: electric flying cars and highways in the sky, smart buildings, greener infrastructure and solar power beamed down from space. The film offers an inspiring vision of what life could be like 50 years from now.

As the climate changes and the global population grows, cities will need to adapt. We travel to Los Angeles, Amsterdam and Singapore to find inspiration and see for ourselves what is already happening there.

Cities of the Future also introduces viewers to a team of secondary school students taking part in the Future City Competition, an annual challenge in which 60,000 students from around the world compete to design a model city of the future.
