The Barney and Beenie Clean-up Club keeps the sea clean, safe and healthy.
We all share one planet. But there is a lot of litter and it’s not only untidy; it’s also harmful to our environment, on land and in the sea.
Why a Clean-up Club? There is a lot of plastic in litter. Plastic does not break down. Over time, it breaks into tiny pieces that you can’t see with the naked eye: microplastics and nanoplastics. This is harmful to people and animals. Animals ingest the plastic and it enters the food chain including ours. That’s bad news, because it can make you very sick.
Every year, we add around 300 million tons of plastic waste to the Earth (source: Plastic Soup Foundation). That’s 300,000,000,000 kilos!
Joining the Barney and Beenie Clean-up Club is free, and anyone can take part at any time!
