The System is a compelling documentary that invites you to look at the world differently. As climate crises, economic inequality and political instability become ever more tangible, we meet three passionate idealists who refuse to accept the status quo.
We follow Henk Ovink, international water diplomat in New York, Pippi van Ommen, co-founder of Extinction Rebellion in Amsterdam, and Berlin-based climate activist and antifascist Tadzio Müller. Their struggles and diplomatic efforts often collide with resistance and disappointment. Yet they continue, searching for new ways to make change possible.
Director Joris Postema (known for Stop Filming Us) captures this journey without offering easy answers. Instead, he reveals the power of doubt, collaboration and imagination. The enchanting soundtrack by Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth elevates the film to another level and underlines the emotional depth of the protagonists’ journeys.
The System shows us that real change does not begin with certainty, but with asking questions and being open to new perspectives. It is a call to work together and to find the courage to challenge the system.
