A documentary about growing up and learning to survive in the Norwegian wilderness.
Far from classrooms and social media, teenagers spend a year in the far north of Norway. The film follows them as they learn to live with nature, responsibility, and each other.
Folktales takes place at Pasvik Folk High School, well above the Arctic Circle. Teenagers choose to spend a year without traditional lessons, focusing instead on outdoor activities such as dog sledding and learning how to survive in the wilderness. The film follows their daily lives, where working together and trusting each other are essential. The documentary is directed by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady.
